Penguine und Schwindel erregende Höhe down under

First day in Melbourne

Swiss Penguin #1
Melbourne is crowded with countrymen.

Amazing view at 297 meters above Melbourne.
How can one decide to stop building just 3 meters away from 300???

If you look curved enough, you can see London from here

People are standing on a glass floor 300 m high.
My pacemaker told me I shouldn't do it.

Life begins when you start asking the right questions.
And find empathy enough to listen and understand the answers.

I managed to get tickets for staurday night to a musical with music of my early youth.
Do you remember Bobby Darin?
Maybe you were not born then yet?

The Amazing Penguins

We only had to drive two hours to get there by car. Philip said: " That's no distance at all. Papa, you have to get used to it, Australia is larger than Switzerland!"

Below a view into a southern bay of Phillips Island.
I'm fascinated with the thought, if you travel further south from here, and miss Tasmania only 10 Ferry hours away, cross the Antarctic, still going south, keep the direction, then you will suddenly realize that you are heading north!!?

It seems like a paradoxon. Just keep long enough going in the same direction then things will change. So why bother with change?

They come in small groups and walk to their burrows where they sleep and feed their young ones. Two hours before dawn they leave again and spend 80% of their life in water. Birds?

On this beach every night between 1600 and 4000 penguins come ashore.
On the entire island there are some 32'000 penguins.

I wondered how they have survived so long, so defenseless,  in this world.
Maybe they just taste awful. Apparently it has been proven that also the aboriginals did not eat them.
